Medical Humanities and Engagement
Medical Humanities and Engagement (MH&E) aims to explore medicine in its historical, ethical, social and cultural contexts.
MH&E carries out four major types of activity:
- grant-giving programmes in medical humanities and history, biomedical ethics and public engagement
- directly managed public engagement activities that include Wellcome Collection, education, supporting researchers to engage the public, broadcast projects and special public engagement initiatives (such as Darwin 200) that stimulate an informed dialogue and raise awareness and understanding of biomedical science, its achievements, applications and implications
- resources provided through the Wellcome Library to enhance learning about biomedical science and history of medicine
- media and communications, working in close liaison with internal staff and external organisations that contact the Wellcome Trust
