Carries out the charitable objects of the Wellcome Trust as laid out in the Trust's constitution

Medical Humanities

History of Medicine Funding Committee

Responsible for funding decisions on research grants, fellowships and public engagement projects in the history of medicine.

History of Medicine Interview Committee

Responsible for interviewing candidates on the recommendation of the History of Medicine Funding Committee; has delegated authority to make funding decisions.

Biomedical Ethics Funding Committee

Responsible for funding decisions on research grants and fellowships under the UK Biomedical Ethics and the Ethics of Biomedical Research in Developing Countries schemes

Biomedical Ethics Interview Committee

Responsible for interviewing candidates on the recommendation of the Biomedical Ethics Funding Committee; has delegated authority to make funding decisions.

Medical Humanities Strategy Committee

Monitors progress towards meeting the Trust's strategic aims and objectives and specific stream objectives, agreed annually with the Board of Governors; and advises and makes recommendation to the Board of Governors on strategy.

Public Engagement

Arts Awards Funding Committee

Provides support for projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts.

International Engagement Funding Committee

Offers support for projects focusing on local issues and building capacity for public engagement.

Society Awards Funding Committee

Offers support for ambitious and creative projects that engage people with developments in biomedical science on a regional or national scale.

Makes decisions on Translation Award proposals and recommendations to the Technology Transfer Strategy Panel on all Strategic Translation Awards

Seeding Drug Discovery Committee

Makes funding decisions on all Seeding Drug Discovery Awards.
