The following committees have an advisory role or hold decision-making authority for the Wellcome Trust.

Medical Humanities |
||
Responsible for funding decisions on research grants, fellowships and public engagement projects in the history of medicine. | ||
Responsible for interviewing candidates on the recommendation of the History of Medicine Funding Committee; has delegated authority to make funding decisions. | ||
Responsible for funding decisions on research grants and fellowships under the UK Biomedical Ethics and the Ethics of Biomedical Research in Developing Countries schemes | ||
Responsible for interviewing candidates on the recommendation of the Biomedical Ethics Funding Committee; has delegated authority to make funding decisions. | ||
Monitors progress towards meeting the Trust's strategic aims and objectives and specific stream objectives, agreed annually with the Board of Governors; and advises and makes recommendation to the Board of Governors on strategy. | ||
Public Engagement |

Provides support for projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts. | |||
Offers support for projects focusing on local issues and building capacity for public engagement. | |||
Offers support for ambitious and creative projects that engage people with developments in biomedical science on a regional or national scale. | |||
